'La Vista Grande' is a large beautiful two bedroom air conditioned apartment situated within a small collection of renovated 16th Century farm buildings converted into luxury houses and apartments. 'La Vista Grande' has been sympathetically restored and now offers a high standard of accommodation, including free Wi-Fi, whilst retaining lovely features such as vaulted ceilings with chestnut beams and terracotta tiled floors throughout. Outside you have your own private veranda and garden with terrace, the vine covered gazebo gives shade from the Tuscan sun and the garden has uninterrupted stunning 360 degree views of the Tuscan countryside. Clear night skies allow for wonderful views of the starry night sky. The shared pool is 7x14m and there is also a large covered gazebo and sun loungers.The medieval hill towns of Volterra & San Gimignano are both 20 minutes by car and are perfect for sightseeing. Our guests tell us that they have had wonderful holidays here, the comments in our guestbook are testament to this and many come back every year.

First rate communication from inquiry to booking and providing of travel instructions, apartment information, suggestions on local restaurants, supermarkets etc etc was a decent clue that the property itself would be of a high standard and we were not disappointed. The apartment is spotlessly clean, of high quality furnishings, especially the beds which, for other reviews, are super comfy, not very common in Italy in our experience. The living area is well proportioned, comfortable and homely. It seems like everything is catered for, the good selection of pots, pans, utensils, books, guides, extra pillows etc etc and for the very first time in a dozen places in Italy ... an oven glove ... why does nowhere else have one !!! Outside is a large pergola with barbecue and garden and wonderful views for eating on an evening. Air-conditioning in the evening is very effective and very welcome in the Tuscan summer. The pool is of a very high quality with great loungers (note: in the "shallow end" are very good for a decent swim) and further wonderful views. We have stayed in many places over the years that we have enjoyed but might not have been 100% confident of unreservedly recommending to a friend. This is one of only 2 or 3 places in 10 years of travel to Italy that we would have no hesitation in recommending.
This beautiful apartment is located between San Giminiano and Volterra. Count an hour before you reach Sienna and Florence. If you have children, the pool will be a major plus considering the heat of the Tuscan summer. Our host Mike has plenty of tips to share with his guests and be sure to follow his advice when it comes to fine dining!
What a beautiful part of the world. We have stayed with 7 apartments during our 6 week trip. Mike's communication and information was most helpful and complete. We loved the wildlife - saw a badger, deer, hare and lizards. On our last morning we spotted the wild boar and his family trotting over a nearby hill. We had day trips to Lucca and Pisa, Florence, Sienna and a few days at San Gimignano. The pool was a real bonus and we really enjoyed it. The gravel road was fine even after heavy rain. Whilst it is serene and remote the nearest restaurant is only 5 mins up the road at Castagno. Glad we chose this as our Tuscan base.
We spent a week in the apartment and enjoyed it very much. It has everything one needs for a nice vacation and quiet relaxation in abundance. The property is at the end of a gravel road. It is close to Volterra & San Gimignano. Siena and Florence are each about 90 min away. Good location for excursions and the patio and pool are great for days where one simply wants to do nothing.
