Vila Borboleta ('Butterfly Villa') is a spacious architect designed house standing in its own grounds. It has superb distant views of the sea from the first floor balcony and the Monchique Mountains are visible from the rear garden and kitchen window.The prettily tiled pool is surrounded by brick paving and the garden has a colourful display of hibiscus, oleanders and Bougainvillaea. The villa is comfortably furnished with country antiques and tradtional Portuguese furniture. There is an ample supply of china and cutlery and a range of cooking utensils and electric equipment. Each bedroom has a fan and in the winter there are several electric radiators and a lovely open fire for which logs can be oredered. Both bathrooms have twin basins in marble surrounds and each bath has an overhead shower and the ground floor bathroom has a separate stand alone shower.
The villa is about 2 km from a mini-market, 3 km from the market town of Lagoa, 5 km from Carvoeiro (an attractive and lively fishing village with bars and cafes) and 9 km from Portimao (a large fishing port and shopping centre). Intermarche supermarket is about 3 km on the Lagoa-Carvoeiro road. Golf, tennis, riding and many other sports can easily be arranged. Our maid, Lucilia, comes to clean the villa five times a week and changes the linen and towels once a week. She is happy to do personal laundry and ironing for our guests in return for a small tip. The normal changeover day is Thursday but alternative arrangements can be made before May or after September.
There are many pleasant walks, along the coast or inland,with good habitat for butterflies, birds and a profusion of beautiful spring flowers. Benagil beach is within walking distance and other fine beaches are a short drive away. Fish is a speciality in local restaurants and prices are very reasonable. Interesting trips can be made to Silves, the Monchique mountains,Cape St Vincent and the west coast.

House Rules
Negotiable rates for smaller groups in low season, also special rates for longer stay.
The deposit is non- returnable so guests are advised to make sure that their holiday insurance covers cancellation because of illness or unforeseen circumstances
The changeover day is normally Thursday but please ask if a Saturday booking would be more convenient and we will try to be flexible.
