Le Four a Chaux is a large but intimate Provençal country house or mas, built from old stones, carefully restored in keeping with the period, and fully equipped with modern amenities including wi-fi. It has great character, with ancient stairways, original tiled floors, traditional beamed ceilings and tasteful decoration.
The house is set in its own vineyard and surrounded by many more. Built on a large estate, the property offers open and covered terraces on both sides with garden furniture.
The large back garden overlooks the Côte-du-Rhône valley and the ancient villages of Sablet, Séguret (officially recognized as one of France's most beautiful villages) and Rasteau. The back garden connects directly to the owner's vineyards.
The south facing front garden consists of a new swimming pool (11 x 5.5 m) with a summer kitchen and barbecue. There is a garage for one car and additional parking on the property for one other. The comfortable furnishings and the open fireplaces complemented by a full central heating system makes Le Four à Chaux suitable for all seasons.
On the ground floor of the house, the main entrance hall leads into a large living room with plenty of comfortable seating, a raised dining area with a large dining table suitable for eight, and a large open traditional fireplace. There is a small separate television room leading from this with satellite TV and DVD player.
A corridor leads to the spacious and fully equipped kitchen with a modern stove top, marble working surfaces, two fridges, fine wooden table for informal dining, and a raised open fire. Adjacent to the kitchen is a separate large utility room with washing machine, dryer. There is also a large sink and stainless steel working unit.
A door from the kitchen leads directly onto the south-facing dining terrace, gardens and the pool house, which has a summer kitchen and barbecue and outdoor dining furniture, shaded by a pergola.
Three sets of stairs lead upstairs, where there are three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom or shower room. The separate staircases mean that the bedrooms provide complete privacy, and the house is ideal for two or three couples or a family with older children.
The main bedroom opens onto the garden terrace through a set of double French doors; its en-suite bathroom has an ornate bathtub and a separate shower. Three bedrooms have access the garden (one does not) terrace, gardens and vineyards.
