Le Cordonnier is a traditional village house with a rooftop terrace located in the hilltop village of Sablet. It is centuries old, built of stone with two foot thick walls for keeping the house cool in summer and topped with a traditional Provençal tiled roof.
The house sleeps 5 comfortably. It has two bedrooms, both furnished with double beds. In addition, there is a double sofa-bed in one bedroom, a single bed on the mezzanine, and a double sofa bed in the lounge. A cot and a high chair are available on request.
The living room has a sofa and armchairs surrounding a wood-burning stove, with a television and stereo for relaxation. The terrace has a barbecue and a dining table and chairs, so guests can dine outside and enjoy the view over the surrounding hills and vineyards.
The property has been recently renovated by its present English owners, retaining much of its original charm derived from the massive stone walls and exposed beams. When they started renovating this property, they found old bits of leather and shoes in the stone walls along with some rolled up bank notes, evidence that years ago it had been the home of a thrifty shoemaker.
The house is furnished in a traditional and comfortable style, with a Provençal feel and decor. The owners live adjacent to the property, and are always willing to offer help and advice to make a stay in Provence among the most memorable and happy travel experiences.
Le Cordonnier is located in the centre of Sablet, an unspoiled fortified village which clusters around its 12th century church, and is enclosed by ramparts and towers dating from the 14th century.
Le Cordonnier is not suitable for the elderly or small children due to steep stairs.
