If a superb country house set in beautiful tranquil surroundings is your idea of heaven then this property is the one for you. Tucked right beneath a castle in the tiny hamlet of Foixa, this masia is built entirely from natural stone with some parts dating back to the 13th century. Lovingly restored by the current owners over many years, the house is decorated and styled in keeping with its traditional Catalan heritage with beautiful landscaped gardens, terraces and walkways on many different levels, and a large private swimming pool. The setting is breathtaking in its natural beauty and the small hamlet of Foixa is truly picturesque with a traditional restaurant and small general store just a few minutes walk from the house. A 20 minute drive will bring you to the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns of L' Estartit and L'Escala with their golden sandy beaches, great shopping and countless outdoor activities. The beautiful city of Girona is accessible in less than 30 minutes, offering some of the best shopping and restaurants in Catalonia, and more locally you will find the charming local towns of La Pera and Pubol with numerous restaurants and the castle of Gala Dali, open to the public, and well worth a visit. The house itself is set on a gentle hillside with a large private parking area to the rear. The big wooden front door opens into an impressive vaulted entrance hallway leading off to the terrace overlooking the attractive gardens and of course the large private pool with lots of space to relax in the sun. On this ground floor is a twin en-suite bedroom and a large bodega with fridge and ping pong table. Stairs lead from the entrance up to the main floor of the house which comprises a large living/dining area with full length terrace and generous traditional kitchen with its own breakfast bar and dining table. There are two double bedrooms on this level, one with terrace access, plus a family bathroom. An open staircase leads from the salon to the uppermost level where there is a large light and airy bedroom with 3 single beds. Whilst a wonderful place for a great family holiday, due to the traditional styling of some terraces and staircases, this house would mean that very young children would need lots of supervisión.
