Between the village of Cardedu and the sea we offer you a tastefully furnished vacation apartment in a large villa, lain at a short distance from the beautiful and breathtaking beaches of Marina di Cardedu. Surrounded by garden and terraces. The apartment has its own separate entrance with all needed privacy. Two bedrooms, bathroom, living with open kitchen.

On the Ogliastra coast in a natural park with a wealth of plateaux and plains, artificial lakes and torrents, forests and bush, beaches, buttes and outcrops lies Cardedu. The whole area of Cardedu includes fine white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, cliffs which fall sheer to the sea, age-old woods and dry desert plains.

Quiet in winter, Cardedu comes to life in the summer, during the festival “Insieme a Cardedu”, with a vast array of interesting events, from music and dancing to theater and folklore, for the joy of both residents and tourists. Ogliastra Diving of Barisardo is the diving centre where anyone can learn to scuba dive in a fun and easy way.

To introduce you to the under water world, they organize under water experiences for the youngest participants (from 8 years up) and for adults, junior courses, basic under water recreation courses, advanced and specialized courses, marine biology courses, professional courses, HSA courses for participants with various physical or sensory disabilities.

Guided immersion is undertaken along with snorkeling to discover the seabed along the Ogliastran coast and the relics dotted around the area. We also promote Environmental Education and we produce video and photographic material. This activity can be enjoyed all year round, in summer at the numerous centres in the province, in winter from the port and the coursework is followed at local indoor pools.

Since 2010, Ogliastra Diving is the only diving centre in Italy certified by the Tourism Association with an ecology certificate as a centre "Recommended for its efforts in environmental conservation", committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activities, to promoting the area, and reducing and/or containing the weight on the area by favouring more environmentally aware holidays.

Sailing along the wonderful coast it possible to admire some of the most beautiful bays of the Mediterranean: Cala Gonone, Cala Luna, Cala Goloritzè are nowadays very well-know destinations for tourism. As a matter of fact the whole Orosei gulf has been appointed by the EU as SIC (Site of Communitarian Importance), awards given to sites characterized by the presence of important species of flora and fauna.

One of the most famous and popular site is the Grotta del Bue Marino (Sea cow's cave), once shelter for the seals, today in danger of extinction. The species of animals are numerous and include vultures, predatory birds, moufflons and wild boars, mostly in the internal area.

The "L'ultima spiaggia" stables of Bari Sardo can be found just a few steps from the beaches of "L'ultima spiaggia" and "Planargia". It was founded many years ago thanks to a love for horses and a passion for nature, from a sense of freedom that only these animals can give.

Horse-riding is for anybody who loves horses and nature, or whoever wants to add a new experience to their holiday. It is not necessary to be an expert rider or budding knight, it is enough to love and respect these animals.

At the stables, anyone can learn to ride a horse, both big and small can get close to these wonderful creatures, and learn to respect them and look at the world in a different way. The stable is open to those who already have a certain knowledge of horses and horse-riding, but also to those who wish to try it for the first time. Lessons are organized for beginners along with excursions of an hour or more into the surrounding countryside.

The East Coast of Sardinia: the canoeist’s ideal habitat, according to not just Cardedu Kayak but anyone who’s been lucky enough to visit and paddle here. Places visited all year round by those who love nature and its marvels, rather than creature comforts. The coastline lends itself to all open-air sporting and “wellness” activities.

Among these, sea canoeing is the most sought-after. The canoeist’s privileged position and the absolute silence, interrupted only by the noise of the paddle strokes, help you to admire what the coastline offers. Rare landscapes, unpolluted marine environments, one marvel after another immersed in the crystalline waters whose colours range from emerald green to cobalt blue, with alongside the deep green of the Mediterranean shrubs (“macchia”) that grow right up to the water’s edge.

Beaches and bays in all their beauty alternate with little caves, impressive rocks and granite shapes eroded over time by wind and sea. You paddle kilometers after kilometers, forgetting the time that passes, accompanied by a continuous show of colours and smells.

The other magical side to Ogliastra is the Nature, which is still unspoilt and which gradually changes as you climb over the hills to arrive at the mountains of the Gennargentu, whose varied landscapes and rare beauty are very satisfying to gaze upon. A land which is best appreciated by the attentive and curious observer, rather than the normal tourist. In terms of history and archaeology, the whole area is very worthwhile to visit, with many Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, Fonti Sacre, Tombe dei Giganti and Menhir.

On foot, by bike, on horseback, by car or 4WD you can follow trekking routes to discover places which you won't easily forget. If, on the other hand, you wish to see the splendid Ogliastra coastline from the sea, there are boats to take you there. Only the combination of sights and scents manages to fully describe Ogliastra's magic and harmony. You can't say you've really visited Sardinia if you don't spend at least a few days in Ogliastra!

Nuraghic village or Murales: The Or Murales site lies on altitude of 802 metres above sea level near the Or Muflones peak, and it can be reached by taking a path that starts off from the Orientale Road (at km 187, locality Ghenna 'e Petta, in the area managed by the Forest Agency). Here there is a forest of holly oak and juniper trees that over the centuries were used to make the characteristic, uniquely shaped sheep pens.

The Nuraghic Village or Murales consists of about 100 dwellings made of limestone that stand on the slope and on broad terraces.

Most of these structures are circular, and they are covered with thick vegetation. They are complexes of blocks of apartments arranged around a common courtyard connected to the main entrance. In the dwellings is an elevated section that may be as much as three metres high, and some houses have their entrance architrave.

Certain houses, damaged by illegal excavations, yielded postherds of pans with combing decoration and earthen jars with upside-down ell-shaped handles that can be dated to the final phases of the Middle Bronze Age and the late Bronze Age (1500-1000 BC).

Among the everyday tools tools that are basalt milestones with longitudinal handles that were probably imported from the neighbouring territory of Baunei. The lack of funerary monuments has led scholars to surmise that the dead were buried in the rock-hewn caves of the Codula de Luna Valley.

Ogliastra is a land that must be relished slowly, it deserves more than just the hurried glance of conventional tourism. The entire territory is scattered with archaeological monuments, well-worth visiting: Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, Tombe dei Giganti and Menhir. One can follow trekking itineraries to the discovery of unforgettable places on foot, horseback or by bike, car or land-rover; walking from the mountains towards the sea following underground waterways amid century old forests, flowers, wild animals to reach incredibly beautiful coves.

For those who prefer to travel via the sea, an excursion aboard one of the many motor-boats that cruise along the coast is ideal. The following pages are dedicated to those who wish to discover a paradise of priceless beauty, its culture, its people and its hospitality: Ogliastra. No printed image can fully describe the magic and harmony of this land.

A holiday in this fascinating region is also an exciting journey to discover the many natural attractions offered by Eastern Sardinia: just to name a few, the enchanting caves of the Fig (Grotte del Fico) and caves of Su Marmuri, or the spectacular gorge of Su Gorroppu. For those who choose Ogliastra as holiday destination, those who wish to discover the roots of this land, it is worth visiting the many testimonies of the Nuragic time: a very interesting complex is that of Serbissi in the territory of Osini.

The beautiful beaches of the east coast of Sardinia are bathed by the beautiful blue sea; they can be sandy like that of the Lido of Orrì, pebbled as the unique Coccorocci, or composed of small pebbles as Torre di Barì or the beautiful Cala Goloritzé, absolutely not to be missed if you choose to visit Ogliastra.

Ogliastra stretches from the high Flumendosa basin to the east side of the Gennargentu, and looks over the Tyrrhenian Sea with a high, rocky and spectacularly beautiful coastline. It also includes, at its southernmost boundary, part of the area that historically was part of the marquisate of Quirra. Well aware of the importance of safeguarding this area, the Region and the Comunes have invested in reforestation and developing the forests for walks where you can discover the area's natural and archaeological heritage.
