The coastline of Marina Tue Barisardo with ITS beautiful sea bed, HAS long sandy beaches and in the middle are the rocks on the Torre or Barisardo Which is built.

The seaside of Marina di Barisardo Which extends for more Than 10 km, starts at Cea and continues with the area Known As Teccu, formed or basalt outcrop formed by the eruption of an ancient volcano. Barisardo is a small village of about 4000 Inhabitants Situated on the inner part of the coast. Its position is due to the continuous raids by pirates (quite consistently the typical last centuries) Which of the sea over this town over looks. Submerged in Mediterranean vegetation, the Territory or Barisardo Has Been Chosen as a place to settle since ancient times and in Particular the consistently Nuraghic Age

Barisardo is situated 4 km from the sea; the town was developed inland to avoid the frequent pirate raids. The conical Torre (Tower) was ordered to be built by the King of Spain in the 17th century as a defence against such raids. Situated between the hills of Su Planu, Pitzu e Monti, and the Teccu plateau, the countryside surrounding the town is characterised by centuries-old olive and almond trees and Mediterranean macchia. as well as several domus de janas and many nuraghi.

The seaside, which extends for 10km, starts at Cea and continues with the area known as Teccu, formed of basalt outcrops formed by the eruptions of an ancient volcano. The coastline, with its beautiful sea bed, has long sandy beaches, and in the middle are the rocks on which the Torre of Barisardo is built. In the town, the Chiesa Patronale, with its balustraded steps of multicoloured finely inlaid marble and dating from the 6th or 7th century, is of particular architectural interest.

In Barisardo you find simple traditional dishes eaten by shepherds and farmers: culurgionis, malloreddus, pintau, pistoccu and moddissosu bread, coccoi focaccia with pumpkin, pecorino and casu ageru cheeses, spit-roast meat and red wine.

Ogliastra, with the beauty of its coastline and mountainous interior, is Sardinia's most recently-discovered tourist destination. This corner of the island, bounded by the mountains and the sea, offers an unlimited number of unique attractions for visitors.

A paradise of remarkable beauty situated on the east coast of Sardinia: here Nature offers the best of itself. The name Ogliastra is said to come from the Olivastri, olive trees, found all over this area, though others say it's derived from the Agugliastra (or Pedra Longa), the limestone monolith on the coastline of Baunei.

Ogliastra's coastline contains beautiful oases of sand wedged between the sea and the surrounding cliffs, and is one of the Mediterranean's most charming marine landscapes. Starting from the north, we come to sandy bays (cale) reachable only by boat or on foot, such as the famous Cala Luna, Cala Sisine, Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzé; further south we find interesting beaches such as those at Tancau, Orrì, Cea, the Marinas di Barisardo and Cardedu, Coccorrocci and the Golfo di Sarrala.

The other magical side to Ogliastra is the Nature, which is still unspoilt and which gradually changes as you climb over the hills to arrive at the mountains of the Gennargentu, whose varied landscapes and rare beauty are very satisfying to gaze upon. A land which is best appreciated by the attentive and curious observer, rather than the normal tourist. In terms of history and archaeology, the whole area is very worthwhile to visit, with many Nuraghi, Domus de Janas, Fonti Sacre, Tombe dei Giganti and Menhir.

On foot, by bike, on horseback, by car or 4WD you can follow trekking routes to discover places which you won't easily forget. If, on the other hand, you wish to see the splendid Ogliastra coastline from the sea, there are boats to take you there.

Only the combination of sights and scents manages to fully describe Ogliastra's magic and harmony. You can't say you've really visited Sardinia if you don't spend at least a few days in Ogliastra!

Ogliastra stretches from the high Flumendosa basin to the east side of the Gennargentu, and looks over the Tyrrhenian Sea with a high, rocky and spectacularly beautiful coastline. It also includes, at its southernmost boundary, part of the area that historically was part of the marquisate of Quirra.

Well aware of the importance of safeguarding this area, the Region and the Comunes have invested in reforestation and developing the forests for walks where you can discover the area's natural and archaeological heritage.

Ogliastra has a great variety of coastal scenery. In the north, overhanging limestone cliffs are punctuated by quiet sandy bays, such as the famous Cala Goloritzè, reachable only on foot or by boat: Ogliastra is the perfect place for trekking.

Further south, at Arbatax, Tortolì and Gairo, broad sandy beaches such as Cea, San Gemiliano, Orrì, and Musculedda alternate with rocks of red porphyry, granite or Coccorocci's unusual black beach.

Ogliastra is one of those marvellous places in which, between the mountains and the sea, you discover a different view around each corner.

The tourist port of the Marina di Arbatax is located in the centre of the east coast of Sardinia, 8 NM from Capo Montesanto (to the north is the Golfo di Orosei) and right under Capo Bellavista inside the large Porto di Arbatax, served by ferries from Genoa and Civitavecchia. Secure and accessible in all weathers and for boats of all draughts.

Near the port you can admire the ancient torre Spagnola, and the fascinating Rocce Rosse sticking out of the sea. You can visit several seaside attractions in the area surrounding Arbatax: the enchanting Cala Moresca, the very pretty bay of Porto Frailis, the long beach of the Lido di Orrì, with its white sand and crystal clear water, and finally the beautiful beach of Cea and its red porphyry sea stacks. Overlooking the port of Arbatax there are the impervious and fascinating mountains of the Gennargentu, whose landscapes are characterised by huge woods full of many different scents.

In honour of such beauty, the Ferrovie della Sardegna with the Trenino Verde (Little Green Train) organises daily trips starting from the station of Arbatax to the mountains and their villages, through wild and unspoilt countryside.

The modern Tourist Port of Baunei and Santa Maria Navarrese, inaugurated in 1998, is a welcoming and safe harbour on the east coast of Sardinia which can accommodate up to 340 vessels of up to 30m in length.

The well-qualified and friendly staff and the range of services offered will meet all sailors' needs. From June 2005, the Port has the Pequod, a swing lift to enable disabled people to board boats, thus becoming the first accessible port in Sardinia.

In 2006, for the second time in a row, the Tourist Port won the prestigious Bandiera Blu award for marinas, awarded for the quality of the mooring, services, safety standards, care of the environment and availability of information.

Each year the port has attracted more visitors thanks to both the quality of its services and the magical setting in which its located, a little bay with its view of Santa Maria Navarrese's Saracen tower and its beach.

Forty kilometres of the wildest Sardinian coastline, with vertical cliffs cut by deep incisions that interrupt the impressive rock walls with sandy bays and beaches, which are true jewels of the Mediterranean. By definition one of the last natural paradises, where birds such as Audouin's Gull, Eleonora's Falcon and the European Shag nest and live in symbiosis with a natural habitat with many species found only in this area and jealously guarded by the shepherds who to this day graze their herds of goats.

The Grotta dei Colombi, the inlets of Portu Pedrosu and Portu Quau and the beaches of Cala Goloritzé and Ispuligidenie (Cala Mariolu and the Spiaggia dei Gabbiani) will accompany you in an unforgettable voyage, discovering undersea sumps inside the Grotta del Fico, the last kingdom of the Monk Seal, and taking you back in time to relive an ancient world. And we're not finished, there are still the beaches of Cala Sisine and Cala Luna.
